Chapter I "Move out of the way, you creep!" shouted a husky voice behind her. Calissa was brutally awakened from her daydreaming, while she turned around to face her aggressor. The 6'1'' boy with dark hair and wicked grimace, was staring with a devilish look. "I said: move out of the way you fat fuck! Are you deaf or something?" he roared again, waving his big, stumpy hands, like he was trying to punch the air. Calissa felt her heart stabbed with a thousand knifes, while she took a few steps back, struggling not to burst out crying. She eventually dragged her feet to the other side of the road, watching the bully moving away with a heavy swinging gait, like a pig who decided to walk on his back hooves. The girl waited until he turned the corner and disappeared, then, gathered all her strength to shove the bitter feelings somewhere in a hidden corner of the heart. It was a cold spring morning that day, and although the sun decided to shine among the chubby clouds, Calissa felt like darkness was constantly surrounding her. "I am not a creep!" she murmured to herself, feeling the wet salt of the tears on her cheeks. "I am not a creep!" enforced her statement, and took a few deep breaths, while heading towards the big red brick building ahead. The 16 years old teenager was terrified of the thought that she would have to face her peers again, in that nasty wasp nest she had just been transferred to a few days ago. It was supposed to be the best high school in town, but right now it seemed like a horrible medieval jail, where she had to wait for a death sentence. The staggering buzzing of the classroom felt like hammers squashing her brains. Calissa rushed to her desk, head down, while the vicious looks of several faces drilled holes in her back. She quickly pulled out an old notebook, and began writing down the lyrics of "Yesterday" from The Beatles, over and over again, in a desperate attempt to ignore the current circumstances. Somehow, writing that song made her feel a little better, although the wounded heart was still bleeding sadness: "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away/ Now it looks as though they're here to stay/ Oh, I believe in yes.." "Well, look what the cat dragged in!"someone hissed in her ear. "Please, Emma! Leave me alone! I don't want any trouble! whispered Calissa in a trembling voice. "Girl, you are such a waste of space!" barked back the tall skinny creature, who was wearing a significant amount of make up on. "Stop using me to feel good about yourself, and build up your self - esteem some other way! " The blonde viper widened her eyes in shock, snatched the girl's notebook, and threw it in disgust over the desks. The pages flew across the classroom like white pigeons in search of a forgotten freedom. There was a moment of silence, then the other kids started laughing, pointing fingers and shouting like monkeys on steroids: "Loser! Loser! Loser!" Calissa felt a strong sensation of nausea, like everything around was spinning, while her heart was scratched by invisible venomous claws. In the next second, she grabbed her bag and rushed out the door, biting her lips in anger and shame. As she was running, the chaotic rumble of thoughts spread like a virus in her neural connections, and even though she was hearing it louder and louder, somewhere in the background there was a voice mumbling: "Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play..." The fresh spring air was furiously stinging her nostrils, but she kept running and running, without looking back, thinking that if she ran fast enough, all her pain would be left behind, and eventually fade away. Or maybe the universe will open some kind of magical portal that will swallow and threw her in the void. The void is silent and neutral. She could hover in nothingness for eternity, in a slumber without dreams, without memories. That would be such a sweet relief! A soft gentle wind was dancing through the branches of the trees. The small park looked somehow welcoming, thus Calissa decided to rest on a wooden bench, far away from the curious looks of the people. Her heart was still pounding hard, and the pain licked her soul with a fiery tongue, but at least she was safe for now. After a while, the girl pulled out of her bag a shabby diary with leather covers, and with tears rolling down her face, she started writing. Poetry was her only comfort in times of struggle and sorrow. "Hi!" whispered a warm voice near the bench. Calissa froze in astonishment. She clenched her hand and held it tight against her mouth, so no sound would escape. "That voice! It sounds so familiar! It's the same voice that I've been hearing in my dreams for years!" "I am sorry if I startled you, but I've noticed you were crying, and, um, I just wanted to see if you were okay. Is there anything I can do?" smiled the tall teenager, with slightly dark skin, silky black hair and mesmerizing Asian eyes. There was something in his aura, a certain kindness and integrity, that made her feel calm and at peace with everything. It was like they had met before, in past lives, in the waves of time, where their souls connected through beautiful golden strings. "I'm Sezim, by the way" he continued "I...I'm Calissa..."
